William J. Ballard Sr.
William Joseph Ballard Sr. (Bill), 70, passed away on October 4, 2026, in Blue Springs, Missouri, where he lived with his daughters, Cynthia and Amanda. Graveside service will be 1:00pm Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Wyman Cemetery in Rueter, MO 65744.
He was born on December 1, 1955, in Owego, New York. William proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Myron Ballard; his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda (Marshall) Ballard; and his brother, Myron F. Ballard.
He is survived by his siblings, David Ballard, Tommy Ballard, and Elizabeth (Ballard) Burnett.
Bill was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His children describe him as loving, selfless, funny, protective, and playful. He was the kind of man who was always ready to lend a hand—and if something needed fixing, there was a good chance Bill would show up with his toolbelt before you even had a chance to ask.
He was also generous with his advice, whether it had been requested or not. His family will undoubtedly smile for years to come remembering his willingness to share what he thought they needed to know. Beneath the humor and advice was a man who cared deeply for his family and wanted to protect, help, and take care of the people he loved.
Bill had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. He loved carpentry, fishing, and spending time in nature. He enjoyed working with his hands and finding ways to be useful to the people around him. For Bill, love was often shown through action—fixing something, lending a hand, offering advice, or simply being there.
Bill is survived by his children: Amy Ballard (wife, Melissa Sizemore), and children Noah Gooch, Savannah Gooch (Matthew Bevis), and Mary-Elizabeth Joyce
Jennifer Touney (husband, Dan Touney), and children Gage Touney, Kiana Touney, Victoria (Peyton) Hays, and Cadence Touney, William Ballard Jr., and children Ethan, Aden, Tessa, Gavin, and Blessin, Cynthia King, and children Lakeshia (Rahsean) Jenkins, Shanice Brown (Andrew Anderson), Tavius (Samantha) King, and Trey King,
Amanda Staver. He was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren, leaving behind a family that will carry his memory, his lessons, his humor, and—quite possibly—his unsolicited advice for generations to come.
