Walter T. Gronek Jr.
Walter Thomas Gronek Jr., 81, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed peacefully at home with family on Saturday evening, October 28, after a short battle with cancer. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2nd in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO.
Walt was born on July 5, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Walter “Red” Gronek Sr. and Mary Kaszuba. He served in the Navy and was a Merchant Marine. In 1973, he began working at Union Pacific Railroad and he married Barbara in 1975.
Two sons preceded him in death, Jason and Jerry.
Survivors include wife Barbara, daughter Jami, son John (Tracy), sister Kathy Fisher, brothers John (Kathy) and Tom (Teri), and several nieces and nephews.
The last 33 years, Walt enjoyed his farm in Hale, MO. He never knew a stranger and loved spending time with his many friends.
