Sherry G. Riddell

Sherry G. (Brown) Riddell, 74, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on September 12, 2026.

Sherry was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Orville Glen and Eva Nadine (Maynard) Brown. She was raised in Orrick, Missouri, where she spent her early years before later making her home in Independence.

Throughout her life, Sherry worked at Hallmark and later served as a library aide at Blue Hills Elementary. She also spent many years devoted to her home and family.

Sherry was especially proud of her children and grandchildren, who remained among the most important parts of her life. She cherished spending time with her daughter, Beth, and enjoyed staying connected with family and friends through her many long phone conversations.

She had a lifelong love for dogs and animals and enjoyed gardening, home improvement and DIY television shows, Kansas City Chiefs football, and Kansas City Royals baseball. Sherry was also a breast cancer survivor, demonstrating strength and perseverance through that chapter of her life.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Washburn; her son, Adam Riddell and wife, Amy; and her grandchildren, Parker Riddell, Kinsley Riddell, and Harlow Riddell. She is also survived by extended family and friends who knew and cared for her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Joseph Richard “Butch” Riddell; her parents, Orville Glen and Eva Nadine Brown; and her brother, Dennis Eugene Brown.

In accordance with Sherry’s wishes, services will be private and limited to immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Sherry’s memory to Wayside Waifs or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
