Robert A. Rigby Jr.

Robert A. Rigby Jr., age 75, passed away on October 13, 2026, at his former home in Oak Grove, MO.

A private family graveside service will be held on October 23, 2026, at Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Born on February 27, 1951, in Springfield, MO, he was the son of the late Robert Rigby Sr. and Marjorie (Dalsin) Rigby.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Bradley Rigby.

He is survived by his three children: Rhett of Oak Grove, Robert (Trey) of Belton, MO, and Regan Sheley of Portland, OR; eight grandchildren; and his brothers, Brian of Springfield, MO, Brent of Lincoln, MO, and Barry of Orlando, FL and one sister Karen Anderson of Omaha, Neb.

Robert graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s in Reading from Missouri State (formerly SMS), as well as a Specialist Degree from Oklahoma State. He spent his career working as an English teacher and counselor before later working in the natural gas industry across Wyoming, Montana, and Texas. Outside of his career, Robert’s primary passion was music. For nearly five decades, he was a dedicated bass guitarist, spending his weekends and summers performing with various local bands and making lifelong connections with his friends and fellow musicians. He also spent many years studying cutting horse pedigrees, breeding, and raising them.

The family thanks Ascend Hospice for their wonderful care during his final weeks.
